City Police strengthens its patrolling with
'Rakshaks' |
The City police is all out to safeguard its citizens with the introduction
of a new fleet of all equipped patrolling vehicles-the Rakshaks equipped with wireless
sets, Siren and public address system.
17 Rakshak vehicles have been introduced in addition to the 13 peter Vehicles. Each
vehicle would have one SI,one head constable and two police constables who would work in two
shifts. These Patrol vehicles would be positioned at strategic points. Whenever
there isa any sensitive incident, the patrol vehicles would seal off the entry points in the city thus preventing the entry and exit of suspects.
These vehicles would also help the traffic police during traffic jams and help victims in case of accidents.Rakshaks will reach the crime scene within five minutes from the time of reporting the incident to the police.
There is a plan to introduce 60 patrol teams on two wheelers to strengthen the existing
force. These Patrol teams would check crimes like chain snaching,eve teasing and also check
suspicious objects.
The City police is also acquiring the Global Positioning System (GPS) for patrol
vehicles sum of Rs 30 lakhs has been spent for acquiring the GPS.With GPS and very shortly with
upgrading communication facilities, the city Police Control Room would become the most modern system in the country.
