CM holds a review meeting on tourism promotion in the State 

The Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu held a detailed review meeting on the Tourism Promotion in the state at his chambers in Secretariat.

The Chief Minister also agreed to grant incentives to Tourism sector on par with the Information Technology sector like holidays for Sales Tax, Luxury Tax and exemptions from road tax and concession on energy consumption.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to explore the possibilities of imparting specialized training for the tourist guides .He directed the officials to measure the status of AP Tourism in quantifiable terms and set International benchmarks and achieve them in a time-bound action plan. 

He also ordered the officials to study monthly and cumulative flow of private investment into the state. To gain first hand information and on the spot assessment of various World Tourism events and experiences, the officials should personally visit such places and implement success stories, he said. 

The Chief Minister instructed the officials to work out a time-bound action programme to house the Jewellery of Nizam – VII after they suggested Chow Mohalla palace as an ideal place for it. He also asked the officials to identify various minor and medium irrigation projects in the state to develop tourism. He instructed the officials to identify certain handicrafts made by DWCRA groups to exhibit and sell it in tourist centers.

The Chief Minister also declared Krishna and Guntur districts as Special tourism areas and Vijayawada as Pilgrim Centre. The areas like Manginapudi beach, Kuchipudi, Kondapalli should be developed as tourist spots. The government has already declared Hyderabad, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Nagarjunasagar and Warangal surrounding areas as tourist spots. Mr Naidu directed the officials to prepare an action plan to develop Hyderabad, Warangal, Pakala lake, Nagarjunasagar, Srisailam, Kurnool, Penukonda, Horsely Hills, Rishi Valley, Mypadu-Pulicat lake, Amaravathi, Kolleru, Manginapudi, Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Borra Caves and Araku Valley as tourist interest regions.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to prepare a concept plan when a proposal to set up an Ayurvedic Resort in Visakhapatnam in 20 acres of land near the sea was raised. He also agreed in principle to develop Eco Tourism project about four kilometres away from Visakhapatnam city centre in 65 acres of land. He agreed to a tourist facilitation center at Kurnool district which has many important Tourist/pilgrimage centers like Mantralayam, Yaganti, Ahobilam and Mahanandi.

The topics like granting approval to lease policy for land based tourism projects were also discussed. The officials also briefed the Chief Minister about the progress of work in View Tower, Ropeway Project, Rock Garden, Amusement Park, NTR Garden, Sanjeevaiah Park, Food Courts at Necklace Road, People’s Plaza, Golf Course, Durgam Cheruvu, in Hyderabad, another Ropeway at Visakhapatnam, Beach Resorts and Golf Course at Bhimli, Pitchukalanka, and Anantagiri Hills near Visakhapatnam.

Minister Tourism Mr E Peddi Reddy, Chief Secretary Mr P V Rao, Secretary Tourism Mrs Chandana Khan, Chairman and Managing Director APTTDC Mr Anjaneya Reddy, Secretary Higher Education Mr Sudheer, Director Tourism Mr Kishan Rao, Vice-Chairperson HUDA Mrs Lakshmi Parthasarathy, Commissioner MCH Mr P K Mohanty, Collector Hyderabad Mr Rajesh Tiwari, Collector Ranga Reddy Mr Ajay Jain, Collector Visakhapatnam Mr Prasad and other senior officials were present.
