Mass Transit system to come up in City




The State government has decided to develop mass transit system in the twin cities and suburban areas to decongest traffic with private sector participate. The State Cabinet on Monday approved the proposal to develop the system in three phases. As part of the system, underground rail transport network will be developed in the third phase.

Work on the first phase will be taken up at a cost of Rs.60 crore to connect Nampally, Secunderabad, Lingampally, Faluknama and Kachiguda. Kukatpally, Balanagar,
Begumpet, Bolaram, Medchal and either Ghatkesar or Bongir wiil be linked in the second phase.

The Cabinet sub-committee on mega infrastructure projects comprising Minister for Road and Buildings K.Vijayarama Rao and Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development N.Md.Farooq has been authorized to identify private sectors to take up the project in phases.

All services including ticket booking will be manned by private firms.
