Construction Workers Training Institute to commence 4th batch from 26th August |
| Construction Workers’
Training Institute (CWTI), a city based, one of the seven constituents
of National Academy of Construction (NAC) of which Mr. N. Chandra Babu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh is a Chairman is to offer a personal accident cover to the tune of Rs 1.00 lakh and Mediclaim up to Rs 1500/- during a three month full time training programme to each and every construction worker who joins the course. According to Mr. Ali Farid, Secretary of CWTI, it will probably be the first training institute in the world to offer such an insurance protection to its students who are basically an un or semi-skilled construction workers. Established by Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) and supported by Builders Association of India, CWTI was the first to start training for the construction workers in the state and has completed 3 batches so far. Now the 4th batch will start from August 26 in the following trades--General Supervisor, Electrician, Mason, Bar Bender, Shuttering Carpenter & Plumber etc. The insurance benefit would be extended to all the students starting from this batch, informed Mr. Farid. Targeted at existing workforce, which is estimated to be two to three crore in the state, as well as fresh school and college dropouts, the CWTI training programmes are designed with an objective of imparting proper training to improve skills and standardise efficiency levels, to recognise their craftsmanship, to transform unskilled, semi skilled to skilled labour force, certify and help them earn better wages .
