Hyderabad,August 2008: Fair & Lovely Foundation, a CSR initiative of Fair & Lovely, a leading skin care brand of Hindustan Unilever, in its ongoing endeavour to empower the Indian women has opened the scholarship applications for the year 2008. These scholarships are focused on funding the young deserving girls from Andhra Pradesh and across the country, for their graduation, post- graduation and PhD. The last date for submission of application forms is 31 August 2008.

 Since its inception, Fair & Lovely scholarship has been successfully bridging the financial gaps for young girls across the country achieve their dreams of higher education. This scholarship is awarded up to a maximum of rupees one Lakh per student and over 500 women have been able to fulfil their dreams through this aid. The Fair and lovely Scholarship aims to support the dreams of the women who have the competence, passion and will to make it big in life.

 Like one of the scholarship winners of 2007, Anusha Brahamji, has to say, "I am glad that the Fair & Lovely scholarship has helped me realising my dreams. I lost my parents at a very young age and later became the sole earner of the family. Having faced many hardships in my young life, Fair & Lovely Scholarship was a ray of hope for me to pursue my higher education. The scholarship amount not only eased some of my problems but also put back the spirit of hope in my life"

 Shrimanti Babaso, who owes her success to Fair & Lovely scholarship and says, "I am a daughter to a farmer in Maharashtra. An acre of land never sufficed to fulfil the provisions for our survival. In such an extreme condition higher education to me seemed a distant dream. I am delighted that Fair & Lovely scholarship chose me as a one of the winners. The scholarship has helped me complete my B.Ed. After my education, I intend to get back to my village and teach my people"
