Kanaka Durga Temple
This picturesque temple will take you to a spiritual journey
that’ll treat your visual senses. While Indrakeeladri Hill will

climbing up the stairs. Or if it isn't for you, then motor up

Prakasam Barrage
A major contributor to the beauty of Vijayawada is Prakasam
Barrage that was built across River Krishna. The three canals
created in the process, criss crosses to give it a Venetian
look. Not to forget the beautiful lake that's a sight not to be
missed.
Undavalli Caves
Discover how the Buddhist monks took shelter from heavy rains in
these four storied caves. Dated back to the 7th century B.C.,
they are the perfect example of rock cut architecture in
Southern India. Just 8 km from Vijayawada, these caves take you
to a world you've never had a chance to live in. A huge monolith
of the Lord Buddha in reclining posture is a reminder of his
contributions to the humankind.
Rajiv Gandhi Park
Why should kids be missing out on fun in your trip to

they can be themselves. Created by Vijayawada Municipal
Corporation, this park has a mini zoo and a musical water
fountain. Soon you’ll find out that kids are just an excuse.

Gandhi Hill
As the name suggests, it was on this hill at a height of 500 ft
that the first Gandhi Memorial with seven stupas was constructed
to pay tribute to this great man. On 6th October, 1968 Dr. Zakir
Hussain unveiled this 52 ft stupa for the entire nation. Now
it’s your turn to feel the stature of Mahatma in a way that
you’ve never known before. The light and sound show on the
planetarium will further enlighten you. Also, present is a
library that'll give you some rare insight into the life of this
great man.
Victoria Museum
The mysteries of the past will unfold itself because it's here
that you can view the carefully preserved collection of ancient
sculptures, paintings, idols, weapons, cutlery and inscriptions.

Mogalarajapuram Caves
Experience how old can old get through some amazing facts of our
history on these caves of 5th century A.D. Reputed to be the
first in South India, idols of Lord Nataraja, Vinayaka and
Arthanareeswara are carved here.
Bhavani Island
Not to be missed and perhaps one of the largest islands on any
river is the Bhavani Island. Come here to see one of the many
wonders of nature. Stretching across an area of 133 acres, this
place attracts a lot of interest. The boat journey to this
island is unforgettable.
Adurru
If you haven't had the experience of being in an ancient
village. This is your turn to have some in a village that lies
on the west bank of Godavari with a distinguished past of its
own. Many structures and stupas have been discovered here.
Notable among those are the Buddhist remnants spread over an
area of 2.4 acres. So be here to take a journey down the ancient
ages. Who knows you might step into something that nobody has
noticed?
Amaravati Museum
Truly a voyage to times immortal, this is a museum that'll take
you to the glorious ancient era. On display are collection of
antiques that speak volumes and makes the past come alive once
again.

Buddhist
sites
Dhyanakataka, Bhattiprolu, Goli Guntupalli, Ghantasala and
Chinna Ganjam are some important Buddhist sites in and around
Vijayawada. Many stupas and viharas were built during the
Satavahana and Salivahana dynasties.
Gunadala Mary Matha shrine
An annual feast is held every year to commemorate the appearance
of Mother Mary at Lourdes on February 11, 1858. A church and a
museum of valuable articles offered by the devotees and sacred
relics of the past are present. An iron cross is erected atop
the hill.
Hazratbal Mosque
A holy relic of the Prophet Mohammed is kept here and displayed
once a year. A large number of Muslims join in the celebrations.
Hinkar Thirtha (Jam Temple), Mangalagiri
Definitely a must see, this Jain temple is the biggest in this
region with an architecture that will mesmerize you.
Jaggayyapeta
This ancient site lies 5 km to the north west of Amaravati.
Known as Betavolu in the past, here you'll find many stupas and
traces of monastic buildings.
Kondapalli Fort
A majestic fort that stands tall and is around 16 km away from
the city. It displays the strength of the Prolaya Vema Reddy
dynasty of the 14th century. The fort was the residence of "Bhogamalas"
meaning the prostitutes of the kings. And legend has it that a
Persian Saint, Gareeb Saheeb was beheaded here. The Saint
dragged the fort soldiers to a distance of 20 km even without
his head and fought valiantly till the last drop of his blood.

Kolleru Lake
There's something here even for the birdwatchers. Located 95 km
from Vijayawada this lake has sweet water that attracts several
rare species of birds. So if you want to have a closer look,
then don't forget to come here. Nature in its purest form will
amaze you with its untouched innocence.
Krishna Wild Life Sanctuary, Avanigadda
If the wild interests you, then this could be the right calling
for you. Only at a distance of 80 km from Vijayawada, you don't
have to travel far to let wildlife greet you.
VMC - Sibar Disneyland
If you are looking for a place to excite your child. Then
Disneyland which is just 8 km from Vijayawada is the place to
be. The simulated volcano in the park and joy rides is there to
entertain you all.
